So far, we have raised £66 million thanks to the generosity of our leading donors.

With existing support, work in our four priority areas is already under way. So far, our main milestones include: creating the Mohn Centre for Children’s Health and Wellbeing, opening the world’s most advanced institute for disease analytics, the Jameel Institute, appointing Frank Kelly as the inaugural Battcock Chair and establishing the Jameel Institute-Kenneth C. Griffin Initiative for the Economics of Pandemic Preparedness

Marit Mohn

Marit is a supporter of education and community development in West London and a longstanding friend and donor to the College. Thanks to her £25 million gift, we have created the Mohn Centre for Children’s Health and Wellbeing, which will be a hub for research, education and community engagement.

“While rooted in the local community, this new centre will drive discoveries and improve global understanding of childhood disease. We have the opportunity to change the lives of local young people in a way that will be felt for generations to come.”
Marit Mohn (MSc Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology 1973)

Community Jameel

With support from Community Jameel we have opened the world’s most advanced institute for disease analytics. The Abdul Latif Jameel Institute for Disease and Emergency Analytics harnesses cutting-edge data science to combat global health emergencies. Researchers will shape interventions to control infectious diseases, such as COVID-19 and Ebola, and control the rise of chronic diseases including diabetes and heart disease.

“The Jameel Institute will serve as a beacon for the power of health data analytics, transforming lives locally and across the world. We are proud to support such important and urgent work.”
Fady Jameel, Vice Chairman, Community Jameel

Humphrey Battcock

Imperial is cementing its reputation as the world’s leading centre for the study of air pollution with Frank Kelly in position as the inaugural Battcock Chair. This position is endowed by a £2.5 million gift from Humphrey Battcock, philanthropist and investor.

Humphrey Battcock’s vision and generosity will lead to better science, smarter policymaking and help us to develop healthier cities.

“There is a very real risk to the sustainability of society unless we start making radical changes based on the research of world leading experts. Funding this vital research will enable us to understand even more about this global threat. Imperial is well placed to carry out this research and get results.”
Humphrey Battcock

Kenneth C. Griffin and Community Jameel

Imperial's Jameel Institute has announced plans for a major new global initiative to prepare for future pandemics, thanks to support from Kenneth C. Griffin and Community Jameel. The Jameel Institute-Kenneth C. Griffin Initiative for the Economics of Pandemic Preparedness will use pioneering integrated economic-epidemiological modelling to provide critical data and analysis to inform public health decisions related to pandemic preparedness and disease outbreaks around the world.

“With future pandemics inevitable, it’s critical governments and global health organisations prepare effectively and learn the lessons from our COVID-19 response."
Hassan Jameel, Vice Chairman, Community Jameel

“I am proud to support this initiative that delivers to policymakers and public health officials the research and recommendations they need to reduce future threats, protect livelihoods, and save lives.”
Kenneth C. Griffin, Founder and CEO, Citadel
